FSUPros Week 14 Recap: Lawrence Timmons Leads The Pittsburgh Steelers In Tackles

Week 14 of the NFL had a lot of great performances by former Florida State Seminoles, with team highs in tackles and passing career milestones.  Lawrence Timmons was the standout Seminole among others that we will recap below.

Tony Carter - Denver Broncos

This week Tony played on Thursday against the Oakland Raiders and had six total tackles, four solo and two assisted.  He was also able to deflect one pass and recover a fumble.  The fumble recovery came during a punt when a Broncos player muffed the kick and Tony was there to pick it up.  His actions helped to not turn the ball over deep in their own territory and it led to a field goal.

Sebastian Janikowski - Oakland Raiders

Janikowski was only on the field for one extra point which he was able to make during their loss to the Broncos.

Nigel Bradham - Buffalo Bills

Bradham made his eighth consecutive start for the Buffalo Bills on Sunday when they faced the Saint Louis Rams.  During the game he was able to make two assisted tackles.  The Bills held the lead for most of the game and let it slip away late in the fourth quarter giving up a late touchdown pass.

Shawn Powell - Buffalo Bills

It was another busy day for Powell who had to punt seven times for the game.  He had an average punt of 39.1 yards and was able to land three inside the 20.

Garrison Sanborn - Buffalo Bills

Garrison was perfect on all of his snaps this week.

Chris Hope - Atlanta Falcons

After being used mainly on special teams for the Falcons, Chris Hope was able to receive some playing time as a defensive back.  He was able to make one solo tackle and one assisted tackle during the team's loss to the Carolina Panthers.

Antone Smith - Atlanta Falcons

Smith has not been used in the offense this year until Sunday when he ran a couple of pass routes.  He was thrown to a couple of times but was unable to make a catch.  Antone played on special teams as well.

Graham Gano - Carolina Panthers

During their win over the Atlanta Falcons, Graham was able to hit three field goals of 24, 41, and 31 yards.  He was also perfect on extra points going 3/3.

Ernie Sims - Dallas Cowboys

It was an emotional win for the Cowboys this Sunday after losing a teammate in a car crash earlier in the week.  Ernie had his best performance of the year making 10 total tackles, four solo and six assisted.  He also had a sack on Andy Dalton, which was his first of the year.

Kamerion Wimbley - Tennessee Titans

Kamerion started for the Titans during their loss to the Indianapolis Colts and was unable to record a tackle.

Antonio Cromartie - New York Jets

Sunday Antonio Cromartie was used in a different way playing a couple of downs on offense and made one catch for -2 yards.  On defense Cromartie made three solo tackles and deflected one pass during a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Greg Jones - Jacksonville Jaguars

As a fullback Jones does not see many touches in the offense, but on Sunday he had his biggest output of the year getting two carries for four yards and catching two passes for eight yards.

Mike Harris - Jacksonville Jaguars

Harris made his second consecutive start against the Jets on Sunday and his third of the season.  During the game he recorded four solo tackles and one assisted tackle in their loss.

Christian Ponder - Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings are going to have a tight leash on Ponder these next couple of weeks.  They used Adrian Peterson to offset the mistakes he had been making and it worked this week against the Chicago Bears.  Ponder only threw 17 passes and completed 11 of them for 91 yards as Peterson rushed 31 times for 154 yards.  I think that the Vikings should have done this from the beginning and forced defenses to stop the run versus defenses going straight for Ponder every play.  He did have one interception late in the first half that turned out to be like a punt.

Letroy Guion - Minnesota Vikings

Letroy had one assisted tackle during the win against the Chicago Bears.

Geno Hayes - Chicago Bears

Against the Vikings Geno was able to get playing time at linebacker and made the most of it coming up with three solo tackles.

Lawrence Timmons - Pittsburgh Steelers

It may not have been a great day overall for the Steelers defense giving up 34 points in a loss to the Chargers but if there was a bright spot it was Lawrence Timmons.  The former Seminole had a team high 11 solo tackles.  He was all over the field for the Steelers making tackles during the run and pass.  The Chargers only gained 4.4 yards a play when Timmons made the tackles.  The longest was an 11 yards pass play to the tightend.

Dakoda Watson - Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The special teams player was at it again for the Buccaneers coming up with a recoverd fumble on a muffed punt by the Eagles.  His recovery led to a touchdown three plays later.

Anquan Boldin - Baltimore Ravens

It was a bitter sweet day for Boldin who went over 10,000 receiving yards for his career during their overtime loss to the Washington Redskins.  He caught three passes for 78 yards with two touchdowns.  Anquans touchdowns came on 19 yards and 31 yards.

Patrick Robinson - New Orleans Saints

On a day when the Saints secondary gets torched by Eli Manning and the New York Giants its hard to take anything good from the game.  Robinson on the other hand had a pretty decent day holding Hakeem Nicks in check and making seven solo tackles with a pass deflection.  Nicks was only able to catch four passes for 67 yards and one touchdown.

Brodrick Bunkley - New Orleans Saints

Brodrick started for the Saints and was unable to record a tackle during their loss to the New York Giants.

Darnell Dockett - Arizona Cardinals

Dockett made two assisted tackles during a blowout loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Leon Washington - Seattle Seahawks

It was a blowout for the Seahawks and a good time to get players some extra playing time.  Leon Washington was a benefactor getting seven carries for 38 yards and a touchdown.  He also returned one kickoff for 18 yards and five punts for a seven yard average.  His rushing touchdown was a three yard run behind the left tackle.
