Anquan Boldin Helps Ravens To Super Bowl

Jared Wickerham/Getty Images

It has been a miraculous run through the NFL playoff for the Baltimore Ravens.  Knocking off the number one seed Denver Broncos in the divisional round and then this past Sunday beating the number two seed New England Patriots to win the AFC Championship.  At the center of it all has been the Ravens defense and Anquan Boldin making big catches in clutch moments.

Q & A With Detroit Tigers Prospect Devon Travis

Kevin Pataky

Devon Travis has played on the big stage at every level during his career, from the Little League World Series to the College World Series.  Now he has the opportunity to make it to the MLB World Series.  After being a three year starter for Florida State at second base, Devon was drafted by the Detroit Tigers and played for their short-season affiliate the Connecticut Tigers.

We recently caught up with him during the off-season and asked him about being drafted and what he is working on to become a better baseball player.

FSUPros - Can you describe how it felt to get drafted by the Detroit Tigers and the choice to forgo your senior year at FSU?  Making it to the CWS and returning some really good players had to make it hard.

FSUPros Wild Card Weekend Recap: Anquan Boldin's Record Setting 2nd Half Leads Ravens To Victory

JONATHAN ERNST/Reuters

The Divisional match-ups are set after an interesting Wild Card weekend.  There was one former Seminole that made his mark felt with a great second half performance and that was Anquan Boldin of the Baltimore Ravens.  He set a franchise record and led his team to a victory.  We will recap all of the Seminoles below.

Anquan Boldin - Baltimore Ravens

The first half did not start the way Boldin would have thought with him not making a catch.
"I told (Lewis) before the game I was going to get 200 yards," Boldin said.
Then at the start of the second half the Ravens looked to find Boldin in the offense.  On a 3rd-19 Flacco found him for a 50 yard gain although the team did not score.  On their next drive Flacco hit Boldin for a 10 yard gain and then again for 46 yards to set-up a Ravens touchdown.  Later in the game with 9 minutes to go Flacco hit Boldin for an 18 yard touchdown in one-on-one coverage.  Boldin went up for the catch and just wanted it more than the Colts defender coming down with the defenders arm pinned between him and the football.  He might not have gotten to 200 yards, but putting up 145 yards on five catches and one touchdown in the second half more than makes up for it.  His 145 yards set a franchise record for receptions yards in a playoff game and is the sixth highest for a player over the age of 32.  Here is what Boldin said after the game.
''It's huge for us. It's huge for this city, they've supported us this entire year and they expect a lot from us. In return, we want to give it to them.''
The Ravens will take on the Denver Broncos next week looking to avenge a loss earlier in the year.  Boldin will meet another former Seminole in Tony Carter.
