Since Anquan Boldin left the Arizona Cardinals after the 2009 season to become the Baltimore Ravens number one wide receiver, he has not lived up to the teams expectations. The fault is not his own though since the Ravens have used Boldin as a big play guy trying to get him to run down the field.
In 14 games last year he averaged a career high 15.6 yards per reception. Boldin does not have the speed to out run the top corner backs in the AFC. He is an over the middle receiver who is not afraid to take a hit when making the catch. We all know what happened to him in Arizona when he was knocked unconscious then had his mouth wired shut.
While he was with Arizona he had Larry Fitzgerald to stretch the field. Last year he did get help with rookie Torrey Smith showing that he has the speed to get away from cornerbacks. This year should be better for Anquan, as Smith will no longer be a rookie and the Ravens acquired Jacoby Jones, who also posses speed. Boldin will now be able to move back into the seams for the Ravens.
