Noles' In The NBA

MARK J. TERRILL, AP

Since our last update Bernard James has played in six out of the eight games for the Dallas Mavericks, who have won three and lost five.  During those games he has averaged 14.8 minutes of playing time.  James is averaging 4.8 points per game with 4.5 rebounds.

Bernard has had a couple very good games during this stretch. The first came against the Pacers on November 16th where he played 16 minutes scoring nine points on 2/4 shooting and 5/6 from the free throw line.  He also added seven rebounds and two blocks during the loss.  The second game was against the Lakers back on November 24th where he had four blocked shots in 15 minutes off the bench.  Also he scored seven points on 3/4 shooting with five rebound.

James continues to lead the team in rebounds per 48 minutes at 15.3, but is not getting enough playing time to help a team that ranks 21st in total rebounds per game.  The Mavericks have been out rebounded in 10 of their 16 games this season.

Chris Singleton of the Washington Wizards has played in all eight games over the past two weeks averaging 18.8 minutes per contest while scoring 5.25 points with 4.25 rebounds all coming off of the bench.

His biggest game was against the Charlotte Bobcats where he played 33 minutes and had his first double -double of the season.  Chris scored 13 points on 3/11 shooting and 7/10 from the free throw line while grabbing 12 rebounds to go with his four steals.  He is hitting 46% of his field goal attempts on the season

The Wizards have a lot of talent at the small forward position which is limiting his ability to become a threat to other teams.  If Chris can continue to shoot at a high level and be a force on the glass his minutes should increase and not stay the third option at small forward.

Toney Douglas has played in the past eight games for the Houston Rockets and has had to play behind Jeremy Lin so its been hard for him to get his shot going.  He has scored in double figures only three times in the past eight.  Douglas is averaging 16.6 minutes with 7 points over those eight games.

During the game against the Chicago Bulls, Douglas had a tremendous fourth quarter where he was 8/8 from the free throw line and also hit a 3 pointer to give the Rockets the lead late.  He finished the game with 11 points, all in the fourth.
